Basic Potato Gnocchi
One variety of Pasta
Gnocchi is one of the best variety of pasta which is made basically with lots of potatoes. You can mix puree of spinach and make spinach Gnocchi in the same way. here is my recipe on how to make a light and absolutely delicious Gnocchi.
Boiled and mashed Potato- 5 medium sized
Butter- 2 Tbsp
Whole wheat flour- 1 cup
Salt- To taste
Mix all the above mentioned ingredients together to form a soft dough.
Divide the dough into four portions and roll it to form a long piece.
Cut it into small pieces as shown in the picture.
Make impression with fork on each piece to make it look more attractive (this is the best thing you can ask your kid to help with).
Heat Water in a thick based pan and add a little salt and oil to the water. Once water starts boiling drop few pieces of shaped pasta, wait until it floats on top and then remove it. Continue the process and cook all of the pasta in the same way. This water can be used in thickening your sauce so don't throw it away.
You can mix any pasta sauce with this Gnocchi and serve it.
