Tasty and Healthy Brown Rice Sambar Rice

Many people want to eat healthy and starts with brown rice, after desperate  few days return back to normal rice again. You can try this sambar rice cooking with brown rice where you don't even have to tell your family that you have made it in brown rice because of sambar rice color and texture. They will eat it happily and wont know that they have eaten such healthy food.

Lots of dietary fibre is there in this brown rice so when you eat even little quantity it will fill your tummy nicely.


Things needed
Brown rice - 1 1/2 cup
 Dal - 3/4 cup
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Vegetables like Carrot, potato, Brinjal, 
Capsicum
Garlic -5
Curry leaf 
Tamrind juice thin - 1 cup
Turmeric powder
Chili Powder
Sambar powder
Salt

For seasoning
Mustard seeds
Urad Dal
Hing

This the brown rice which i used for this recipe now a days brown rice is commonly available in all supermarkets to purchase.



In a pressure pan add little ghee or Oil, and add mustard seeds urad dal and hing little once it starts crackling add garlic and curry leafs.


Now add onion and capsicum in the pan and fry it till soft then add tomatoes and other vegetables you are using to it. Mix everything well.


Add a pinch of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of chili powder (you can add to suit your taste), Sambar powder one teaspoon and salt. Mix it thoroughly.


Add washed brown rice and then grind dal coarsely and add it also.


Mix all together with four cups of water.


Once water starts boiling lower the flame and leave it for four whistles in pressure cooker. Since Brown rice takes longer time to cook, cook it in low flame only, otherwise you have cook again.


Add tamrind extract to cooked rice when the pressure released try not to open it in urgent otherwise it might not cook properly. Leave it in low flame for a while so the raw taste of tamarind juice will be gone. 

In the end add little ghee and serve it hot.
